Discover the hidden Spain on a exciting and emotions packed 4-day expedition. 

This tour allows you to fullfill a dream of riding a cool Vespa and you can do it in the most picture perfect environment. Every day you change scenary and setting moving on from mountains to cannyons to meadows. Every evening you stay at a great small hotel full of character set in lovely medieval town.

Our journey will take us on a circular route on very quiet roads from Tamajón in the province of Guadalajara, over the Guadarrama and Ayllón mountains, through the Duratón Canyon Nature Reserve and onto the medieval town of Pedraza. 

If you have a car license and can ride a bicycle and with the training that we provide it will be easy to fullfill your dream. Riding in a group will make you feel protected and will allow you to meet other fellow riders to share experiences and stories over our evening meals at the hotels. 

 

The hotels:

Las Trojes, Tamajón:

Traditional building in a quiet village perfect for our Vespa training. Only five double rooms with a lot of character and rustic decotarion. If the group is large we will also use other small hotels hearby. Dinner is homemade cooking served in the patio if the weather allows. Very friendly owner.

Posada de San Millán, Sepúlveda:

Situated in the old historic center of Sepúlveda. A protected building and one of the oldest buildings in town, with a XIIth century Romanesque front and XVth century inner courtyard. It consists of eight original and carefully decorated bedrooms around the courtyard and a garden offering wonderful views. English spoken. We have dinner at a local restaurant offering traditional Spanish cooking and we are able to enjoy a last drink at one of the bars at the lively main square.

Hostería del Arco, Pedraza:

Situated in the heart of the medieval village of Pedraza is the family run Hostería del Arco hotel where we spend the last night on our Spain scooter adventure. The hotel has 10 very confortable rooms, some of whitch have great views of the Guadarrama mountains. Dinner is special since it is the last dinner and we try the wood oven cooked roast lamb that is the local speciality and get a wine tasting experience where we try the local whites from Rueda and two Ribera del Duero reds finishing with a 2006 Reserva.

  • Which airport should I fly to?
    Madrid-Barajas International Airport.
  • How do I get to the Starting Point?
    A transfer time will be set so that you can join the group at the airport to go to our first hotel.
  • How do I get back to Madrid?
    We transfer you at a set time from the end village to the airport.

 

 

  • Day: 1 - Arrival and Vespa training (5-10 km)

    From Madrid Airport you will be taken to the sleepy village of Tamajón (approximately 1.5 hours drive). Our bilingual biker guide will fully train you until everyone feels totally comfortable with their Vespa.  After our training in the streets of the village we will adventure on quiet roads as a group to have our first ride. In the evening we will enjoy our first meal as a group eating homemade food on the Pation of Hotel Las Trojes accompanied by a good glass of wine.

  • Day: 2 - From Tamajón to Sepúlveda (105 km)

    Today will be the one of the highlights of your holiday as we cross the breath-taking Sierra de Ayllón up to the Puerto de la quesera at 1800 m above sea level to then descend to the medieval town of Riaza with its lovely main square. In riaza we will eat to then head to the plains of Castilla y Leon as we make our way past vast stretches of sunflower and cereal plantations toward the cobble streets of Sepúlveda. Sepulveda is a lively town with a lovely main square and our hotel tonight is really speciall with all the rooms coming of an old court yard with a balcony that resembles the buildings where Shakespeare´s plays where shown. Dinner is at a local restaurant near the square and the party will go on in one of the bars.

  • Day: 3 - From Sepúlveda to Pedraza (110 km)

    After breakfast, we’ll head to one of the highlights of the trip. We visit the Duraton Canyon Nature Reserve which is famous for its bird live and specially the 1000 couples of griffon voltures of up to 2 meters of wingspan. We’ll head to the Ermita de San Frutos situated in a thin peninsula on the meanders of the Duraton River. The views from this point are amazing having the walls of the cannyon all around you. We then had to the medieval village of Pedraza. This picture perfect town has a lovely square and it is a real pleasure to walk around its streets and to have a drink in a terrace at the square. Dinner will be special at restaurante El Jardín with some wine tasting and a chance to try the local speciality of succling lamb cocked on a clay oven.

  • Day: 4 - Return

    After a relaxed breakfast we will take a leisurely ride around the country lanes near Pedraza to then enjoying a picnic before a private transfer to the airport at 2pm. This concludes your 4-day Scooter Expedition that you will never forget.
